The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Hall at Patna was jam-packed with over 400 peasant leaders who had come from almost all the 38 districts of Bihar on behalf of several peasant organisations which form the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) in the state.

The SKM state convention held on 28 April 2026 condemned the growing corporate attacks on agriculture and adopted a comprehensive five-page resolution ending with 19 burning demands. The convention decided to broaden and intensify the struggle all over Bihar on this Demand Charter. 

The convention also denounced the recent pro-corporate and anti-people decisions taken by the double engine BJP-led governments of Narendra Modi and Samrat Choudhary.

SKM national leaders who addressed the convention were AIKS President Dr Ashok Dhawale, AIKM General Secretary Rajaram Singh, MP, AIKMS General Secretary Ashish Mittal, and AIKS (Ajoy Bhavan) President Rajan Kshirsagar.

AIKS State President Rajendra Prasad Singh, ex-MLA, was part of the presidium. AIKS State General Secretary Vinod Kumar spoke on the main resolution. 

Among the AIKS national and state office bearers present were AIKS Joint Secretary Awadhesh Kumar, and State leaders P N Rao, Sanjay Kumar, Shyam Bharati, Manoj Yadav, Sattar Ansari, Arun Kumar, Ramjatan Singh, and Sonelal Prasad.

An AIKS Bihar State Council meeting was held the same evening. It decided to expedite collection of this year’s membership, and complete all the remaining district and lower conferences in May, so as to make the State Conference from 6-8 June 2026 in East Champaran district a big success.
